This weekend I will be attending the Rotary District Conferences, and since I probably won't remember everything that happens I'm just going to write as I go and hope it flows.
My day starts off at 8:30. Im not packed yet, but ooh well!!
At 9:30 I'm all packed up and ready to hit the road!
I'm riding to O'neill with John and Jan Hales, when I talked to John on Wednesday I, of course, asked where he lived, he replied with something similar to this... "We live on William street over by the hospital, you'll know it's our house when you get there, just look for the arches."
Easy enough.
Arches aren't very common in North Platte that I've noticed. So here I go, down William Street, looking for arches.
...wait.
EVERY SINGLE HOUSE ON THIS STREET HAS SOME SORT OF ARCH ON IT!
What?
Maybe he meant something else, although I doubt he was talking about a McDonald's.
I end up figuring out which house is theirs by using my super power of X-ray vision to see into the house.
Or maybe I saw the car outside being packed up.
We'll never know.
Also riding along was Waldir Francisco de Andrade who is from Brazil. Waldir is the leader of Rotary's Group Study Exchange Team, he and his 4 team members have been staying in Nebraska for 2 weeks now visiting different Rotary clubs. They will return to Brazil in another 2 weeks.
WE'RE OFF!!!

This is one of the most interesting sights we saw on our way. ...Major tourist attraction. |
We're an hour into our trip and I've only fallen asleep once! YAY!
We decided to stop in Grand Island for a bite to eat at Freddy's Steakburgers. None of us had ever tried Freddy's but we gave it a shot, and well in the words of John, "Freddy sure knows how to make one dang good burger!!".

Believe it or not, this picture was taken accidentally... meh... wouldn't want to waste a picture of my trip! |

I'm not exactly sure why I felt the need to take so many pictures of the Freddy's logo. |

...again. Not sure why. |

So...far...away. |

We didn't stop here, but I got a picture of the sign which is too impressive to not post. |

Another one of the very interesting sights we passed. |

Wooooo... something different. |

A pin that Waldir gave me (Brazilian flag) |
After our stop in Grand Island, Waldir got a CD out and asked if he could play it on the car's CD player. The CD was all music from his country. Waldir had told us before that he loved to sing, he sang every song at least twice. I enjoyed listening very much, he tried to get me to join in, but I told him I preferred to just listen!
I fell asleep a couple more times before we actually reached our destination.

I felt pretty dang snazzy in my official name tag. |
O'neill Nebraska.
We stopped at the community center where everything would take place, got checked in, and received our welcome packets. John was asked to take me to the Shamrock Nursery where the exchange students would meet up with our hosts and leaders. We got our directions and set off for the nursery.
We had to stop at least two more times to ask how to get there, because our first set of instructions were flawed, but while we were looking for the nursery, we did get to see the majority of O'neill!
Once we found the nursery, we joined a tour of the greenhouses with some other Rotarians. The nursery was absolutely beautiful, and we all enjoyed seeing it.
After the tour, I was handed off to Lib Kumm, our hostess, and taken to her home. We were told to make ourselves at home, which is exactly what we did.

We attended meetings for the majority of the day and then left to go to O'neill Highschool's play called "Bull in a China Shop" which was a hysterically funny variation of "Arsenic and Old Lace."
This little field trip wasn't planned and, I must admit, I felt a little rebellious for breaking the schedule.
Well... I do now.
I honestly almost had a panic attack and begged my friend Dakota to take me back to the meeting.
I'm not a rule breaker.
ANYWAY...

The Rumbles |
By the time we got back to the community center all of the other out-bound students had arrived and we decided to leave the dance that was going on and go back to our host's house. The students decided to watch a movie before bed which was pretty fun. It was 1AM by the time I got to bed, and by bed I mean floor.
"Why didn't you just sleep in the bed provided for you and Anna?" You ask.
Well because when I walked into the room Anna was SPRAWLED across the entire full-sized bed and I was too sleepy to move her.
Saturday morning came WAY too early.
As you may have read in my previous posts, refer to "PROM 2013", I am not a morning person. At 9AM we were awakened and called into the kitchen to listen to today's schedule and what we needed to do to help everything run smoothly. We were told to be ready by 10:45 and that is all I remember being told. After our host and leader left and I was awake enough to mumble some semi-understandable words, I stopped one of the other students to ask what they said needed to be done.
Whoops.
Mornings aren't my forte.
Lets just take a small moment of thanks that I showed up to the conference fully clothed that day.
Meetings...
