When I first discovered that I had been accepted to go on exchange, I had to find a way to keep people updated on my adventures. Now, because I can't possibly call EVERY single person interested in my exchange every time something exciting happens I decided to start this blog! Great idea, right? I thought so. But of course there was one flaw in my otherwise ingenious plan, how to get the address out to everybody. To solve my problem, I decided to make business cards with the address on them. Easy enough. I design and order the cards on April the 5th. The next morning I get an email saying that my order has been shipped and should be here by Friday! Great. That gives me plenty of time before my Rotary meeting on Wednesday!
Friday rolls around and I await patiently for that glorious UPS truck to pull up to my house.
Nothing.
Saturday?
Nope.
It's Monday by now and I'm only slightly irritated. Please keep in mind that I paid for priority shipping!
It's Tuesday and I'm kind of worried that my 500 business cards showed up somewhere like Arkansas. Now before you judge me saying "wow, Emma. 500 cards. Pretty ambitious don't you think? What are you doing? Handing them out to an orchestra?" It's the minimum amount you can order.
By Tuesday night I was freaking out (I'm a bit irrational in these types of situations) and saying things like:
"Mom, I'm sure they have a 5th street in Canada!"
Or "What if they were delivered to a serial killer, who is going to get my phone number off of the cards and call me in the middle of the night?"
And "You're hiding them, aren't you?!"
My mom then decides to call the company I ordered from to see if they knew where my package was, the customer service lady was very helpful. She arranged a refund and sent out a new box of cards. Nice. But! They won't be here until that Friday. Oh well, I can't do anything but wait now.
On Thursday morning I wake up to find my cards in the mailbox. Hmm.
Friday the same thing happens.
Wow.
I now have 1,000 business cards on my desk.
At this point I could hand them out to the majority of the town!
Although I had to wait am extra week, I ended up with a better deal and a story. I guess some things are just worth the wait.
