PROM 2013

We interrupt preparations for Sicily to bring you PROM 2013!

I'm just going to run you through my day, because it was very busy, exciting, and somewhat unexpected in places.

It's Saturday at 6:00 AM

I wake up. I'm not exactly what you would call a "morning person", but I'm awake nonetheless.
By 6:45 I have my make up on and I have eaten. I sit half awake in my room until about 7:45, now let me clarify... I don't remember anything from 6:45-7:45 so I was literally half asleep. I have text message conversations to prove that I was indeed awake, but I don't remember any of them.

Next it's time to go and get my hair done for dance pictures. My appointment was at 8:00 and so I figured leaving at 7:57 would give me plenty of time to arrive fashionably late... But not too late. My dad, being the loving father that he is, drives me to my hair appointment at 8:00 on a Saturday morning. We pull up to the Hair Loft at exactly 8:00. Nice timing right? Although the Hair Loft doesn't usually open until 8:30, my very considerate hair stylist allowed me to come in early so as to have plenty of time to prepare for my hectic day. I tell my dad that I'm not sure if Geri is here yet but I'll go see if she was inside in case I just couldn't see her car, so I walk up to the door and its unlocked so of course Geri is there! I wave goodbye to my dad and he drives off. I walk inside and hear a cell phone ringing, figuring that its Geri, I use my super sonic hearing to follow the noise through the dark hair salon. Why isn't she answering her phone? As I get closer to the sound I realize "That's not a cell phone... That sounds like a tanning bed!". Now why in the world would my hair stylist be tanning this early in the morning?!? As I approach it, I look down the back hallway to see if one of the tanning beds is being used, because I still hear the ringing. But wait, that's no tanning bed! ALARMS! THAT IS AN ALARM! A VERY LOUD ALARM!
Obviously Geri is NOT here and nobody is tanning! I walk very briskly outside while dialing my fathers phone number. I get outside and press call, it rings, and rings, and rings, NO ANSWER?!?! WHAT?! Dad, I'm panicking here. THERE ARE ALARMS BLARING AND I AM NOT AWAKE ENOUGH TO DEAL WITH THIS!! IT IS WAY TO EARLY FOR THIS TO BE HAPPENING!! I decide to call again... No answer. Third times the charm? NOPE. By now I'm thinking that this must be some kind of sick joke and my dad is actually watching me panic from some hidden camera! So I call my mom, who has been sick with the flu for the last 4 days, figuring she'll at least tell my dad to stop with this joke! She of course answers on the first try, why didn't I try this sooner?! I try to calmly tell her what has happened, she sends my dad back to come and help me handle this. The alarms are still blaring when I see my dad driving down the street. What is that behind my dad? POLICE, THOSE ARE POLICE CARS. Wow. At this point I am having a full blown panic attack and my brain is thinking of the worst possible scenario. I am going to jail. Of course! On the day of dance pictures and prom, never mind the fact that I'm a minor and they were the ones who left the door unlocked. I AM GOING TO JAIL. I've never had to deal with the police, IM A GOOD KID. I'm the rational one, I'm the one that always says "no guys, we aren't going to try to climb that ceramic buffalo." Or "No, we can't steal that baby. Yes, it is cute. No, we can't even take a picture with it. That's weird. Leave the baby alone.". See? Officer, I'm a good kid! I've never played hooky! Mostly because I'm the only kid in my class... But still! I've never done it!
As my dad and the police get out of their cars Geri opens the door and comes outside. Phew, she can take the fall. At this point, I'm ready to break down in interrogation. I'll tell them anything. They start walking up to Geri. Okay, she can do the talking, if I go down she goes down with me. Wait, they seem pretty relaxed... They just take Geri's name and leave. That's it? I'm awake now! I'm ready to be read my rights! *sigh* oh well. Everything's good now.
Apparently the alarm goes off all the time. I feel a little bit less scandalous now.

My hair gets done and I'm calmed down enough to go home and think of other things.
It's 9:30 and I have to pack up for pictures! I touch up my makeup and get everything in the car. Easy as pie. Off to pictures we go!
Meanwhile, my date and boyfriend Andrew is taking the ACT. ON PROM DAY. YIKES.

It's a classic tutu photo.
I finish my pictures around 12:30, Andrew finishes his test at the same time. Now to get ready for prom. I have been up for 6 and 1/2 hours today, almost been arrested, and changed costumes more than 5 times. It's been a long day.

By 1:30 all I have to do is put my dress on so I decide to just relax for a while. At 2:00 my friend Tessa, who is going to Hershey's prom calls and wants to know if I want to take pictures with her at 2:30. Why not? Hirshfeld's has a photographer that will take your pictures for free if you bought your dress there so we decided to go there and have a little fun with it. Tessa looked gorgeous and we had a lot of fun.

Later on Andy and I also went to have our pictures taken there. My bursting flamboyancy and his shy mentality balance each other out pretty well. We both had a pretty good time with the photographer.

I do have to point out how we're rocking the matching vans for prom. Pretty awesome right?

I have a pretty freaking awesome dad.

We looked good if I do say so myself.

I didn't even think about learning how to put on a boutonnière.
Hmm, that's embarrassing.
Luckily I'm not the first girl in my family to forget to look up how to do this.
Dad to the rescue!

Now off to grand march!
We came out last, thanks to Andrew's last name. But it's cool.
I cannot count how many little girls dragged their mothers over to get pictures taken with me because my hair looked like princess Airel's. I also got to meet Andrew's best friend Cole, who lives in California. I have to admit I was pretty nervous to meet his best bro. But it went well... I think.

We danced and had a lot of fun. The dance ended at midnight and I had been up for 18 hours and was getting pretty dang tired. We went and changed and then went to post prom at the Cedarbowl. Bowling, hypnotists, prizes. Oh my!! Post prom ended at 4 and just to remind you, I had been up for 22 hours! I was delusional and hungry. Andrew and I went to breakfast with a couple friends and my goodness were those pancakes good. It's about 5:15 and I'm ready for bed. It's been a great night but I just want to sleep. This weekend was super fun and I made a lot of great memories. Back to school and preparations.
Ciao to all of you.
